Firewood gathering will be permitted on Friday and Saturday, November 12 and 13, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. (or until the wood is gone) at the Sunrise Campground in Logan Canyon, 31 miles east of Logan and 7 miles west of Garden City.Entry into the campground is for firewood gathering only and it will not be open for camping. Due to an outbreak of mountain pine beetles in the campground, approximately 40 green lodgepole pine trees will be made available to the public. The trees will be felled by U.S. Forest Service personnel ahead of time and cut into six-foot lengths. Only this downed wood may be removed. Those coming should bring a chainsaw to cut wood into smaller pieces if desired. Firewood is available on a first come, first serve basis.
