Box Elder County small business owner Richard Kent says he believes in opposition in all things. For that reason, the Democrat says he is challenging Republican incumbent District 17 State Senator Peter Knudson in the Tuesday, Nov. 2 election.Kent said there were about 17 Democrats at the party’s county convention while hundreds of Republicans were gathered in the same building and he hates to see that happen. On KVNU’s For the People program Thursday, Kent said he’s a believer in term limits.”I would like to see that happen, especially on a national level,” Kent said. “I realize that it has to be unilateral across all the states, but to have somebody back there 30-40 years is just ridiculous to me. “If you can’t accomplish what you went back to do, then why keep going back?”District 17 covers the southern portion of Cache County, as well as Box Elder and Tooele counties.
