Board accepts UDOT offer to purchase of property near Woodruff Elementary

The Logan School District Board of Education accepted the Utah Department of Transportation’s offer to purchase land from Woodruff Elementary along 1000 West at its board meeting Tuesday. UDOT asked to buy 7 ft. running from the north to the south end of the property on the West side where the trees are, said Superintendent Marshal Garrett. UDOT will place another 8 to 10 feet of easement along the property. The land has been appraised at $21,000. Board member Ann Geary said the board will discuss further reimbursement if the property sale results in extra costs, such as moving the storm drain or creating new curb and gutters. The board also discussed measures being taken to ensure safety at crosswalks. Thirty florescent green A frames to be used at crosswalks have been purchased by the Logan School District. They cost $200 a piece, and will be at all the crosswalks in the city when they arrive in about two weeks. Garrett said that in places where the new safety equipment was tested, they proved to be more effective at ensuring safety than the usual orange traffic cones were. – [email protected]
