The theme is Run for the Ringers, and a 5K run and one mile run on Saturday, Oct. 23 at the Nibley Heritage Park is a fundraiser for the Westminster Bell Choir.Choir director Kathy Bullock says the popular choir is an interfaith group sponsored by Logan’s First Presbyterian Church and the beautiful four-octave set of English handbells are often heard at concerts, churches, nursing homes and parties of all kinds. Bullock says it is time to send the busy bells back to the manufacturer for maintenance and reconditioning. The fundraiser can help pay for that.”It’s a beautiful instrument, beautiful music,” Bullock exclaims. “You can do a lot with the bells. “People who have come to our concerts see us shake the bells. We bang the bells on the table. We twirl the bells around. We wiggle the bells. We have all kinds of techniques that we use, different sounds we make. It’s just a fascinating instrument.”Bullock says the run/walk starts at 9 a.m. Saturday with registration at 8 and the bells will be ringing along the way. For more information, call 755-6656.
