He is now in his sixth year as a member of the Cache County Board of Education and Jonathan Jenkins is hoping to be elected to another term as board member in District Four.On KVNU’s For the People program Monday, Jenkins says the fact that he is a tax attorney helps in the fact that, financially, the board has been dealt one of the most difficult hands it has ever had.”Of our approximate $130 million budget that we operate on, we this last year had to close an approximate $3.5 million deficit,” Jenkins explained. “We did that without closing schools, without laying off teachers and we did it without increasing taxes. “There were multiple times we had an opportunity to do that, multiple cost increase taxes. We kept the system stable, moving forward and intact without increasing taxes.”Jenkins is being challenged by Troy Christensen and he will be a guest on Wednesday’s For the People program.
