LOGAN, Utah – Utah State sophomore Stephanie Burt has been named the Verizon Wireless Western Athletic Conference Women’s Cross Country Athlete of the Week, for the week of Oct. 6-12. Burt, a sophomore from Sandy, Utah, led the Aggies to a second-place finish at the Idaho State Open on Oct. 9 in Pocatello, Idaho. Burt covered the 4K course in a time of 15:59, which earned her fourth-place overall. She was the only Utah State runner to finish in the top five of the race and it was the first time Burt was the top finisher for the Aggies in her career. It is the first time this season that a Utah State runner has earned the WAC honor.Louisiana Tech’s Matt Wolfe earned the men’s WAC Athlete of the Week title for his career-best four-mile race time of 20:09 at the Asics McNeese State Cowboy Stampede on Oct. 9, in Lake Charles, La.Burt and the Aggies will compete on Friday, Oct. 16 as they head to the NCAA Pre-Nationals in Terre Haute, Ind.-USU-
