Lewiston school formally recognized by state school board

The Lewiston Elementary school was formally recognized by the State Board of Education on Friday as one of two “Blue Ribbon Schools” in the state. The Upland Terrace Elementary School in the Granite School District was also recognized by the Board.Adam Baker is principal of the Lewiston Elementary School which has an enrollment of approximately 500 students in grades Kindergarten through five. Fourty-eight percent of the students are economically disadvantaged and about 10 percent are English language learners. Despite these conditions, students score well above the state average and make significant progress every year toward even higher scores.
