UDOT installing rumble strips on SR30

The Utah Department of Transportation advised motorists that safety improvements being placed on State Road 30, also known as the Valley View Highway, could have an impact on traffic on that route in the coming week. UDOT Region 1 spokesman Vic Saunders says beginning Monday, Sept. 27, crews will begin the placement of center lane rumble strips in the median of SR 30 West of Logan. The work will involve a large grinding machine traveling in the middle of the roadway and grinding in the rumble strips which will serve as a deterrent to drowsy or distracted drivers from crossing the center line. This work is expected to take about three days to complete and Saunders says it will be conducted from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily. During this work the center of the roadway will be restricted and this may spill into the traffic lanes. Flaggers will precede the construction, both east and westbound, and will control movements around the machinery when needed. Motorists approaching this work should slow down and prepare to stop, preceding only at the direction of flaggers when present.
