Deadline approaching for conservation financial assistance

Time is running out for private landowners and agricultural producers in Cache County to apply for 2011 financial assistance under the Farm Bill conservation programs offered through the USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service, or NRCS. October 1 is the deadline to submit applications for conservation programs within the county.Projects may include upgrading to more efficient irrigation systems, improving pasture and range conditions, establishing wildlife habitat, transitioning to organic farming, installing high tunnel technology and managing crop residues under no-tillage and mulch tillage systems.
