Paradise resident dies on paragliding outing

Paradise resident Richard Rallison has died on a paragliding outing. Thursday night, just before midnight, the Cache County Sheriff’s Office received a call that the 65-year old was overdue from paragliding just northwest of Paradise. He had gone up to the site in the early afternoon to paraglide alone on a mountain above 7400 South in Paradise. According to Cache County Sheriff Lt. Matt Bilodeau, Rallison’s wife told officers that she was able to find his truck in the area that he told her he would go, but the launch site was about a half mile above the parking area and it was dark. Deputies from the Cache County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to search for Rallison and hiked up to the launch site. Once there they were able to locate Rallison’s deceased body at that location at approximately 2 a.m. The case is still under investigation and Rallison’s remains have been transported to the state’s Medical Examiner’s office.
