LOGAN, Utah (AP) — Utah State University officials have begun to phase out a trailer park that has been home to students since the 1950s.At one point, about 180 units dotted the 20-acre site north of the Logan school’s campus. The park was designated for married students, who could rent or purchase a trailer at a low price. But in the late 1990s, the park infrastructure began to decay and maintenance became difficult. That prompted school officials to set a 2011 closing date.Housing Director Steve Jenson says a recent water line break forced the removal of 55 aging mobile homes. Just 17 units remain. The park will close in July 2011.USU is selling off the trailer homes it owns.Jenson says he knows of no other student mobile home park.
