You will soon be seeing advertising on Logan’s Cache Valley Transit District bus shelters now that the municipal council has approved allowing the ads on 11 of the 18 shelters. The vote Tuesday night was four to one, with Councilwoman Laraine Swenson casting the negative vote. Swenson said she is proud of the bus system and believes allowing the advertising to increase revenues by $12,000 a year would be, “a prostitution of our community character.” Both Councilmember Herm Olsen and Chairman Jay Monson said they have changed their minds since the issue came up last year and they both feel the transit system should be allowed to raise more revenue during a time of recession.
