“Summer Days and Country Ways.” That’s the theme for the Franklin County Fair which continues from now until Saturday night with displays, 4-H and FFA competitions and a host of creative activities. Fair Board member Rob Tondini says one of the main attractions is a Saturday morning Baby Contest where Franklin County’s littlest residents wear only a diaper to compete in such categories as biggest blue eyes, biggest brown eyes, most hair, and chubbiest. A king and queen are chosen along with a prince and princess and a duke and duchess. Tondini says the contest is something parents talk about for years. “When they grow up,” he says, “their grandparents will say ‘oh, my daughter was the queen of the baby contest during the fair and put a little bit of pressure on the granddaugthers to look that cute in diapers.’ It’s a great event.” Tondini says other popular Saturday events are an antique tractor show, a mechanical bull challenge and the second annual Franklin County Car Show from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. which is free to the public.
