Memory Walk and Breakfast meant to raise money, awareness of Alzheimer’s

The first local Alzheimer’s Memory Walk/Run and Breakfast is coming up Saturday, August 21 starting and ending at the Cache Valley Assisted Living Center, located at 233 North Main Street in Providence. The center’s administrator, Kimmett M. Smith, says the cost of $25 includes the breakfast. People can also come for just the breakfast for only $5.On KVNU’s Crosstalk show Monday, Smith said there is still a lot to be known about Alzheimer’s which is a form of dementia.”You have memory loss and decline in mental function over time,” Smith explains, “so it’s something that’s out there. It’s not something that they can put their finger on of why we get it. It’s out there for everybody. “There’s just no certain group that gets Alzheimer’s. It’s really hard for not just the person that gets it, but it’s also hard for family members and people who love them.”Smith says the Memory Walk/Run starts at 7:30 a.m. and registration forms and information can be picked up at the south Walmart service desk, Alpine Homecare, Access Homecare and Hospice, Rocky Mountain Home Care, Sunshine Terrace and the Cache Valley Assisted Living Center.
