Preston rodeo parade grand marshall one of Preston’s biggest fans

He’s been on That Famous Preston Night Rodeo committee for more than 35 years, and this year Douglas Webb is being honored as Grand Marshall for the three parades being held in connection with the rodeo July 29, 30 and 31. Many residents say it is about time Webb receives such an honor because the funeral home owner has been active in many organizations that help make for a stronger community. On KVNU’s Crosstalk show Wednesday, Webb said the story is true that when he travels he only buys enough gasoline to get back into Preston, then he fills up the tank.”I do have one or two venues that I do have to stop for a treat and get gas,” Webb admitted. “I’ve tried to encourage people to at least see if they can do their shopping in Preston before they go out in the world, and I think they would be pleasantly surprised that they could accommodate most of their interests and needs.”Webb started his work with the rodeo committee as a “Pooper Scooper” at the three nightly rodeo parades. He says the pooper scoopers will have a lot more to do this year because on Friday there will be an all horse parade. So why do they call it That Famous Preston Night Rodeo? Webb says be believes it is because it was actually the first night rodeo in the nation. For more details about the rodeo and its parades, visit
