A house fire on Pelican Road in Young Ward Thursday morning caused approximately $125,000 in damages. Logan City Assistant Fire Chief Jeff Peterson says a fire at the Mark Olsen home started at about 7:30 a.m. and when crews arrived the fire had a real foothold with flames coming through the roof and the attic. Peterson says the fire was knocked down fairly fast with help from Smithfield, North Logan, Logan, Mendon and Cache County Fire District fire crews. He says the cause was probably a trash fire too close to combustible materials. No injuries were reported. Cache County Sheriff’s Lieutenant Matt Biladeau says that fire crews also responded to a small wildfire in Strawberry Valley east of Hardware Ranch Wednesday night. Biladeau says it was a small fire and was quickly extinguished.
