Barnes explains new March Madness format

On Monday the NCAA announced an expanded format for their men’s basketball tournament held every spring in March. The 68-team tournament will include a four-game first round involving eight teams from all across the Division I spectrum. The NCAA is calling this new format the First Four. Two of those initial games will include the four lowest seeds in the field, but the other two will include the final at-large qualifiers. Scott Barnes, Utah State University’s Athletic Director, was involved in the discussions for this new format and will be on the first NCAA Men’s Basketball Selection Committee under this new format. Barnes explains the new format and how it could affect USU. Click on the Audio to the left to hear the full interview.
