Hyrum is going patriotic for its annual Star-Spangled Celebration July 3-5.The festivities start out July 3, 7 a.m. with a Freedom Run 15k. At 10 a.m. registration for the youth parade begins, with the parade itself starting at 10:30 a.m. Awards will be handed out. All are invited to participate in a water fight with the firemen at 11 a.m. at East Park.Sunday evening’s patriotic program will feature actor Richard D. Cannon, who will be acting as Hyrum’s founder Ira Allen. Afterward, Cannon will be giving a short speech. The program begins at 7 p.m. at City Square.From 7-10 a.m. July 5, the community is invited to attend a chuck wagon breakfast at City Square. The Main Street Mile begins at 11:55 a.m. at 700 East and Main Street. There is no registration required. The Hyrum parade starts at noon on Main Street. Registration for the parade is required, and forms can be found at the city’s website, www.hyrumcity.com. Free watermelon will be given out after the parade at City Square. City Square will be filled with booths and entertainment from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. At 8 p.m. at the soccer fields, Rough Stock will provide entertainment, followed by fireworks. A teen dance will follow the fireworks at Elite Hall. The dance ends at midnight and costs $2.
