SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Utah is getting $9.6 million to track students’ progress.The U.S. Department of Education announced the funding on Friday.The money is meant to develop and implement data systems to track student progress from early childhood through college.U.S. Education Secretary Arne Duncan says the system will help schools better match teachers with students and help parents better understand their children’s educational needs.The money is coming from federal stimulus funds.The education department says $250 million has been awarded this year for similar programs around the country.
