A free workshop for those interested in capturing the life history of a family member or documenting a local custom or group will be held at Utah State University on Tuesday, May 18. The workshop will run from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Merrill-Cazier Library, room 101. The planned workshop includes hands-on training that covers topics that include an overview of why to collect an oral history, the interview process, dos and don’ts for interviewing, hints on transcribing the interview and ideas for long-term storage. Workshop presenters are Randy Williams, USU Folklore curator and oral history specialist, and Bradford Cole, Associate Dean for Libraries. For more information, call 797-3493.
