BRIGHAM CITY, Utah (AP) – A Utah school district is closing one of its 15 elementary schools to help close a $4.5 million budget deficit. Box Elder school trustees sealed the fate of Bunderson Elementary School on a 5-2 vote during a crowded meeting Wednesday in Brigham City. One Bunderson Elementary supporter said closing the school will irreparably damage the community. But a school lunch worker and a former school board member said the school board made the right decision. The board also approved construction of a new school in Garland, to be funded through a bond passed in 2007. The district is also building two new high schools with bond money.
