Should Uintah Academy be allowed to house 12 adolescent girls with mental health disabilities in a house located about 575 feet from the nearest existing single-family home in Mount Sterling? After several weeks of discussion, the decision is scheduled to be made Tuesday by the Cache County council. It is actually a “reasonable accommodation request” because a county ordinance requires such facilities to make reasonable accommodation requests if they ask to house more than four clients in one facility. The council will decide whether to grant Uintah Academy more than the four clients permitted. Some neighbors strongly oppose that many clients and both Uintah and the neighbors have reportedly said a lawsuit might be pursued depending on the outcome.
