Two finalists selected for new HASS dean at USU

Both finalists in the running for Dean of the Utah State University College of Humanities and Social Sciences are qualified according to philosophy professor Charlie Huenemann. Ted Pease, of USU’s Journalism and Communication Department, says the two finalists, Associate Dean of Humanities and Social Sciences John Allen and Richard Krannich, head of the Sociology, Social Work and Anthropology Department, are some of the best applicants USU has. Pease says both are experienced and talented administrators. They both have an excellent understanding of the college and either of them would provide the kind of leadership the college so desperately needs. A member of the executive committee, Huenemann says with so many budget cuts at USU faculty and staff members want the students to continue to receive the same quality of education. He says trying to meet the students’ needs is the big challenge and students will be as well served as they are now or more so with the new dean. Heunemann says he believes the new dean, whoever is chosen, will work creatively to meet the demands of students.
