The Utah Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory at Utah State University has received its accreditation from the American Association of Veterinarians Laboratory Diagnosticians. The state of Utah now has a cutting-edge, accredited, veterinary diagnostic laboratory capable of testing for both endemic and foreign animal diseases. Testing performed is accepted nationally and internationally, permitting expanded movement of livestock from the Intermountain West. Moreover, an accredited UVD fulfills more exactly its role in protecting the public from diseases that can be transferred from animals to humans. Dr. Thomas Baldwin, Director of the Utah Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory, says it assures users that an in-depth quality system is in place to ensure that all tests and procedures performed are state-of-the-art, timely, accurate, repeatable and validated.
