LOGAN, Utah (AP) – Cache County health officials say at least six people have been treated in the emergency room for stomach pain after smoking incense that’s being used as a drug. The substance is commonly known as “spice.” It resembles dried cannabis and is legal to sell, but is marketed as incense. Substance abuse experts say the material is composed of mostly synthetic ingredients that have widely unknown effects. A spokesman for Logan Regional Hospital says none of the people who were treated in the emergency room after smoking the substance in the past two and a half months were formally admitted into the hospital for their symptoms.
