Mothers convention not for perfect mothers

Monday is the deadline for making reservations for the American Mothers of Utah state convention that is scheduled for Saturday, March 6 at Maddox Lodge in Brigham City. State President Lisa Klomp, a Logan resident, says the convention runs from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and features keynote speaker Marilou Myers, former member of the General Primary Board for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.A single mother, Klomp is inviting women of every age and every walk of life to attend the convention. “We want to encourage all mothers to come, whether they’re divorced, single for whatever reason, widowed or whatever difficulties they have that’s why we’re there, to support them and strengthen them,” Klomp says. “There are no perfect mothers out there and sometimes they think they need to be that to come to this thing, and they don’t. We’re all struggling with something here or there.”On KVNU’s Crosstalk show Thursday, Klomp said anyone interested in attending can get more information by contacting her at 512-8820, 753-2582, or 770-0698.
