The Cache County Republican Party is hosting its annual Lincoln Day Dinner and fundraiser on Friday, March 12 in the Utah State University Taggart Student Center Ballroom. Party Chairman David James says it should be a big event because an exciting cast of characters have said they would be coming. “Governor (Gary) Herbert has confirmed that he is planning on coming,” James says, “and he will be bringing the Lieutenant Governor, Lieutenant Governor (Greg) Bell, with him as well. So that’s very exciting to have them here. “Both of our senators will be here. Both Senator (Bob) Bennett as well as Senator (Orrin) Hatch will be here, as well as Congressman (Rob) Bishop.” James says this is an important political year because three members of the Cache County Council, all of the county’s elected officials, state representatives, a U.S. Senator and even Governor Gary Herbert will be standing for re-election. The only one who has announced he is not running again is Bryan Chambers, the only Democrat on the seven-member Cache County Council. James says he has talked to several people who would be excellent candidates for that office.
