Police arrest suspect in string of off-campus burglaries

A 32-year-old Orem man has been arrested on felony burglary charges in connection with his alleged involvement in several residential thefts over the past month throughout the Logan area. Aaron Foote was arrested early Thursday morning after police were called to respond to a burglary in progress on Canyon Road. When police arrived, Foote had fled the scene, but officers used K-9 officers to track Foote and they eventually found him in his vehicle near 550 N. 700 East, Logan Police Capt. Jeff Curtis said.”We located him there in that same vicinity in his truck,” Curtis said. “We were able to recover some of the stolen items that were involved in the burglaries that took place last night that were called and reported and we took him into custody and have been questioning him throughout the day.”Foote, who Curtis said has an extensive criminal history, was being booked into the Cache County Jail Thursday afternoon. He was being booked on second-degree felony charges of burglary and probation violation, but Curtis said additional charges likely would be coming. As for the motive behind the more than 20 burglaries Foote is believed to have been involved with, Curtis said the suspect wasn’t talking much about it.”I’m sure it’s the same motive that most people that commit burglaries have: to get money for other things,” Curtis said.
