Former Grant’s Auto owners face more than 100 criminal charges

Two former owners of Grant’s Auto in Logan each face 113 class-A misdemeanor counts stemming from an 18-month investigation.Charges of failure to deliver motor vehicle titles and other related charges have been filed against Grant Wesley Campbell, 57, Hyde Park and his son Bret Wesley Campbell, 36, Smithfield in 1st District Court in Cache County.Motor Vehicle Enforcement Division investigators conducted the investigation in conjunction with the Cache County Attorney’s Office.Because of the serious nature of the case, MVED anticipates the Cache County Attorney’s Office to file additional felony fraud charges.Ryon Ross Long, the former general manager and Dustin Hansen, the former finance manager, also face separate felony charges that were filed in 2009.MVED suspended dealership and salespersons licenses of Grant’s Auto in October of 2008.Over $2.5 million in restitution is being sought for the 113 victims who purchased vehicles from Grant’s Auto but never received titles.”We appreciate the cooperative efforts of the Cache County Attorney’s Office in the investigation,” said Charlie Roberts, MVED spokesman.
