State Senator Lylle Hillyard, R-Logan, brought no good news when he met with the Cache County Council last Tuesday to talk about jail reimbursement. The county right now received a little over $300,000 for housing so-called “Condition of Probation” inmates and the Sheriffs office says it should be getting $400,000 from the state.County Executive Lynn Lemon says the sheriff and county attorney have met with judges but so far nothing has been resolved.”It is really a difficult issue,” Lemon says. “We don’t want to be releasing individuals if we simply don’t have room for them. But we also need some help with those. These are Condition of Probation individuals. They’re people that should probably be in the state prison. It’s not like we want to say, ‘we can’t take them.’ It’s a problem that we’ve really got to work closely with the state on in resolving.”Although the state has another big revenue shortfall Lemon says he’s hoping lawmakers will do something to bring relief to the county during its upcoming session
