LOGAN — The Old Lyric Repertory Company, base for an advanced theater program at Utah State University, is hosting auditions for the 2010 summer season. Auditions are held in Logan Saturday, Jan. 30, from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. in the Black Box Theatre of the Chase Fine Arts Center (room 224) on the USU campus. Call backs will begin at 4 p.m. “The OLRC has been called ‘one of the best-kept secrets of Utah’s theater scene,’ and to be selected to join the company is an honor,” said Kris Bushman, OLRC production stage manager. The summer 2010 production schedule includes “Always…Patsy Cline” by Ted Swindley, “The Mousetrap” by Agatha Christie, “The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (abridged)” by Adam Long, Daniel Singer and Jess Winfield and “Blithe Spirit” by Noel Coward. The OLRC is auditioning men of playing age 20-40 years, women of playing age 25-40 years and an actress to portray Patsy Cline. All auditioning men and women should come prepared to present two monologues; one monologue must be a comic piece. The total time should not exceed four minutes and pieces may be from the season’s shows. Those auditioning should also come prepared to read. Sides will be available on the OLRC Web site; visit theatre.usu.edu and click on the OLRC link. Women auditioning for Patsy Cline are expected to sing something from the Patsy Cline repertoire. Productions and dates include “The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (Abridged),” June 10-12, 19 (matinee and evening), 23, 25, July 10 (matinee and evening), 14, 22 and 30; “Blithe Spirit,” June 16, 17, 18, 24, 26 (matinee and evening), July 15, 23 and 29; “Always…Patsy Cline,” June 30, July 1, 2, 3 (matinee and evening), 16, 21, 24 (matinee and evening) and 28; and “The Mousetrap,” July 7-9, 17 (matinee and evening), 20, 27 and 31 (matinee and evening). Titles and dates are subject to change. Contracts for company members run from May 16- July 31, 2010. Housing will be arranged, but not paid for, by the OLRC. Full company contracts (three shows) and a limited number of single show job-in roles are available. Equity Guest Artist and non-equity contracts are available. The Old Lyric Repertory Company performs in the Caine Lyric Theatre in historic downtown Logan, Utah. The OLRC is a professional theater group founded in 1967 by Cache Valley theatre patron W. Vosco Call. The company is among the few remaining regional theater companies that produces four shows in repertory through the summer months of June, July and August.
