As Christmas gets closer a lot of people are running out of money and Adrie Roberts, Utah State University Family and Consumer Sciences agent for Cache County, says people should cut down on spending and not keep running up credit card debt. On KVNU’s Crosstalk show, Roberts said after Christmas is a good time to go over your budget and decide just what you can do without during the coming year. She says with the economy tight a lot of people are cutting out a telephone or perhaps a storage unit. “I consider them an extension of your house payment,” Roberts says of storage units. “If you’ve got stuff in storage do you really need it? Do you really want it? “Do you just feel guilty about getting rid of the stuff in the storage unit? Go through that storage unit and either cut down on the size of the storage unit or squeeze it into your garage or something like that.” Robert says some people find they can do with less insurance. She also advises that people can save a lot of interest money by paying off credit card debt each month.
