“Crossroads and Opportunities–Staking a Claim in Utah’s New Energy Economy.” That’s the theme for the sixth annual Bioneers Conference opening Friday, November 20th and continuing through Saturday at the Utah State University Eccles Conference Center. It comes at the end of the first-ever Sustainability Week at USU and conference chairman Jim Goodwin says speakers will talk about not only the challenges for ecological restoration, sustainable business, environmental heath and social justice, but solutions will also be offered. Goodwin says something fun is scheduled for Friday afternoon. “We have some graduate business students from Weber State that are going to come,” he says, “and they’re going to be talking about plans they have for ‘greening’ their campus and also about putting sustainability into their business curriculum. I think four of them are going to come up, and that will be great to hear from them.” Goodwin says the conference has a mix of local speakers and DVD presentations from national speakers.
