Bioneers Conference addresses sustainability

“Crossroads and Opportunities: Staking a Claim in Utah’s New Energy Economy.” That will be the theme for the sixth annual Bioneers Conference coming up Friday and Saturday, November 20th and 21st, in the USU Eccles Conference Center.Co-Chairman Jim Goodwin says the format has changed and the conference actually begins this year with a special program to be held this Friday, November 13th, in the Logan Tabernacle starting at 7 p.m. The keynote speaker will be Dianne Nielsen, state energy advisor to Utah Governor Gary Herbert, whose topic will be “Utah Energy: Power Our Future.”Numerous workshops will be held the following week. Among those is one conducted by USU Physics Professor Robert Davies with the title “Earth’s Changing Climate: An Unfortunate Update.” Goodwin says the conference wants to spread the word on the three E’s of sustainability: sustainable environment, sustainable economy and sustainable social equity.More information about the conference is available at
