Senior building project worries more than seniors

Few, if any, senior citizens experienced a mind change Monday after hearing a developer and architect explain a proposed building project where a new senior center would be built, surrounded by approximately 200 apartments. Cache County Executive Lynn Lemon says the county would own the land and the project would be built by Rick Plewe & Associates of Salt Lake with Tom Jensen as the architect. Lemon says the seniors at the meeting and most of those he has talked to are against it and want things as they are. “We had several of the other groups that were represented there,” Lemon said immediately following the meeting on Monday, “Williamsburg, Legacy House, a number of them came up after the meeting and spoke to me and said ‘we’re not for it and we’re really worried that if you do something like this that it will make all of us really unprofitable.'” Lemon says the county will make no commitment until a market study and financial analysis have been done and there is support from seniors as well. The project does go before the Logan Planning Commission Thursday for a design review.
