Utah State volleyball loses at third-ranked Hawai’i in three sets

HONOLULU   Utah State’s volleyball team dropped a three-set match (25-11,25-12, 25-21) to third-ranked Hawai’i here Sunday night. USU falls to 14-13on the season and 5-9 in Western Athletic Conference play with the loss,while UH improves to 23-2 on the season and 13-0 in league play with thewin. Junior middle blocker Katie Astle (Sandy, Utah) had six kills and threeblock assists for Utah State and hit .500 (6-1-10) in the match, whilejunior libero Christine Morrill (Neola, Utah) had 10 digs. Kanani Danielson and Aneli Cubi-Otineru posted 13 kills apiece for Hawai’i,while Amber Kaufman added 10. Utah State finished the match with a .153 (24-11-85) hitting percentage andHawai’i hit .426 (52-12-94). UH also had 16 more digs (40-24) and six moreservice aces (7-1) in the match, while USU had 2.5 more team blocks(7.5-5.0) and two fewer service errors (5-3). Utah State will return to action on Monday, Nov. 16 when it hosts Hawai’i at7 p.m. -USU-
