Cache County did not have any alcohol related crashes on Halloween night. Utah Highway Patrol Sergeant Rick Mayo says that’s pretty amazing considering Halloween fell on a Saturday.UHP Superintendent, Colonel Daniel Fuhr, relayed a positive message statewide to troopers Monday, acknowledging that Halloween is one of the deadliest nights for drunk drivers. Fuhr says typically when the holiday is on a weekend there is a 40% increase in alcohol related fatalities. He reported that statewide there were no alcohol related deaths during the Halloween time frame. Fuhr and Mayo attribute a lot of that success to the statewide DUI blitz. Fuhr said it’s not convenient for the troopers to be out on Halloween, but he said, “if we’re not out, who will be?” He congratulated the troopers on saving lives this Halloween.
