Watts, Quayle, Daines win election in Logan

The race was tighter than many expected, but Logan Mayor Randy Watts won another four-year term, defeating Mike Morrill in Tuesday’s election by a 53-47 percent margin. In the Logan council race, incumbent Dean Quayle was elected to his first full four-year term and Holly Daines also won election, with the two receiving 30 and 28 percent of votes respectively.Tony Wegener finished third in the council race with 24 percent of the vote.Lundstrom Student Center recorded a total of 970 votes for mayoral candidates, 691 going to Watts, 279 for Mike Morrill. Voter turnout remained low with only 15.39% of registered voters turning out at the polls. The loss of Wegener, Steven Stokes and Morrill was a blow to all who were hoping for change because of issues such as the park strip reclamation project and the ongoing landlord licensing issue.
