Lynn Lemon discusses senior center, county’s 2010 budget

Cache County senior citizen director Kristine Johnson has some serious concerns about a proposed project where the existing center would be torn down and a new building constructed, along with approximately 200 senior apartments. Cache County executive Lynn Lemon says he shares some of Johnson’s concerns about the proposal which a Salt Lake City developer says would give seniors good access to downtown Logan and would enhance economic development. Lemon says the existing center is not bulging at the seams and it’s not in terrible condition. Both Lemon and Johnson are concerned about where seniors would gather while the new building is under construction.County executive Lynn Lemon is scheduled to present his proposed budget for 2010. It’s the last item on the agenda for Tuesday night’s five o’clock Cache County council meeting.Lemon says it will not be a balanced budget, but insists a balanced budget will be presented on November 10th. He says the 2010 budget will pretty much maintain the status quo. Budget cuts have been made, and when an employee leaves, a decision will be made on whether or not that position should be filled.Lemon says he has met with some departments, but the hard work will come between now and the presentation of a balanced budget on November 10th.
