Logan Municipal Council candidate Holly Daines has no problems with the city building a new police department, moving city hall into the Justice Building and allowing the library to use all of the former city hall space. But on KVNU’s For the People program Tuesday, Daines questioned the expenditure of extra money to get the LEEDS certification for energy efficiency. “A lot of that is bureaucratic,” Daines said. “You have to turn in paper work. You have to have inspections. That increases the time and increases the cost.”If the city were to build another building I think we’d need to look carefully at whether that was really…if we really needed that certification. I think you can take advantage of the energy efficiency.”Daines says the same amount of efficiency could probably be accomplished without paying more for the official LEEDS designation.
