The Sunshine Terrace Foundation Board of Directors is holding its annual Founders Day celebration on Wednesday, October 21st from 4 to 6 p.m. Board President Janet Osborne says during the Founders Day celebration a wing of the Rehabilitation Center will be named the Dr. Merrill C. and Betty T. Daines Care Center.Osborne says Dr. Daines has been medical director at the Terrace since 1975 and he’s been a member of the Board of Directors since 1984. She says through those years Dr. Daines has been an essential part of making Sunshine Terrace a success in carrying out its mission of providing “wellness, independence, dignity and quality of life for those it serves.”Osborne says it is not just Dr. Daines’ medical experience that has endeared him to residents and staff but the fact that he has remained approachable, insightful and helpful.She says Betty Daines has given equal measure to Merrill through the years in community service. She is a longtime volunteer at Logan Regional Hospital and as a nurse has worked diligently to vaccinate school children and migrant workers.
