LDS General Conference draws thousands to Salt Lake City

Tens of thousands of faithful members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints are descending upon Salt Lake City this weekend as they attend the church’s bi-annual General Conference.Most gather at the Conference Center for one of five sessions that span two days in downtown Salt Lake. Others gather at venues around Temple Square to listen to the talks and music by church authorities and Mormon Tabernacle Choir.Two sessions take place Saturday, at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m., and two sessions take place Sunday, again at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. These sessions will be broadcast on radio, television and satellite, as well as on the Internet. A session meant specifically for members of the church’s priesthood takes place Saturday at 6 p.m. but will not be broadcast on air. Priesthood members are encouraged to attend this session by attending Stake Centers where it will be broadcast over satellite.For those living in Northern Utah and Southeast Idaho, 610 KVNU will be broadcasting the two Saturday sessions and two Sunday sessions live without commercial interruption.
