Logan Regional Hospital hosting health fair next weekend

As fall begins, the seasonal flu vaccine is in high demand and short supply in Cache County. A limited number of seasonal flu vaccines will be available for the public at a drive-up flu vaccine clinic as part of the Intermountain Health Fair on Saturday, October 10, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Logan Regional Hospital. Participants can receive their flu vaccine without leaving their car. The drive-up seasonal flu vaccine clinic will be held outside the Women & Newborn Center on the northwest side of the Logan Regional Hospital campus at 500 East 1400 North. There is a limited supply of the seasonal flu vaccine available. All health insurance plans will be billed for Intermountain Healthcare patients, or a cash price of $40 is available. The Intermountain Health Fair also includes a variety of other free health screenings for adults, available through the Budge Clinic entrance on the south side of the Logan Regional Hospital campus. These screenings include cholesterol (limited to the first 250 participants), skin cancer, blood sugar, glaucoma, hearing, blood pressure, and oxygen saturation. In addition, a limited number of free prostate cancer screenings are available by appointment. Prostate cancer screenings include PSA blood tests and digital rectal exams. They are available on a space-available basis by appointment for men age 50 and older with no previous diagnosis of prostate cancer, or age 40 and older for men with a family history of prostate cancer or African Americans. Community residents are also invited to attend a presentation by Plastic Surgeon Casey N. Isom, M.D., titled, Keeping Skin Looking Younger as You Age. The presentation will be held at 10 and 11:30 a.m., and includes a prize drawing for Botox, fillers, and Nia skin-care products. The health fair will also include health information and displays on H1N1 and seasonal influenza, mammography, and other topics. Other health fair activities include prize drawings and giveaways.
