AggieTown

Let’s fill Romney!Coming off the dramatic comeback only to fall short to the Texas A&M Aggies definitely gives Utah State fans hope. When is the last time an Aggie team put up over 500 yards of offense against a BCS school? If any of you have missed out on seeing sophomore sensation Robert Turbin-don’t miss out on this chance this Saturday at 6pm! It’s football season and it is time to get ourselves behind this team and cheer them on because the players and coaches deserve it. Let’s fill Romney up because we only get 5 chances this year! Coach Gary Andersen is a big reason to come to the stadium this fall Saturday. The effort and hard work from this team is a refreshing feeling for Aggie fans. The way this team fought back against the Utes in game 1 and took it one-step further in game 2 versus the maroon Aggies is a good sign. Sure the defense gave up some big plays but the way the offense exploded should get some seats filled up on the hill. The aggressive style of the defense should be a nice change. Plus the names will be on the back of the jerseys so fans will know who’s playing! Last year I was sitting in the stands and somebody behind me asked “Who’s number 12?” Utah State might have found their go-to receiver in Stanley Morrison and safety James Brindley is one of the best Gary Andersen has ever coached. My first ever Romney experience was in 1993 for the famous 58-56 Utah State versus BYU game. I was in Italy when the Ags beat the Utes in 1996 20-17. The Riley Nelson comeback against Fresno St. in a dramatic connection to Kevin Robinson in 2006 winning 13-12. The shootout with New Mexico in 2002 ultimately winning 45-44. The heartbreaking losses to #3 Oregon in 2001 down 24-21 and driving in the third quarter only to be intercepted by former Nfl-er Onterrio Smith dashing Aggie dreams. The 2002 “the game in which I won’t speak of” versus BYU. Also the infamous “excessive celebration play by Chris Stallworth” ultimately losing to Wyoming 43-42 in 2001. Those are just a few moments that have happened at Romney in the last twenty years. There is not a better time of year in Cache Valley then in a late September night in Romney Stadium with the leaves about to change and the brisk air feel you get telling you it’s pigskin time. Get your nachos, cracker jacks, popcorn, your coke, and a burger. Plus this Saturday should be a victory.Game: Southern Utah @ Utah State 6pmTV: NoneRadio: 610KVNU, 95.9KLZX, 1230AMOnline:
