A panel of judges is scheduled to meet October 8 in Logan to hear secret testimony to determine if a grand jury should be convened in the 1st Judicial Court. The judges will hear evidence of possible criminal activity. If people believe possible criminal activity has been taking place but has not gone through the regular court process, this is their opportunity to talk to judges. The judges then decide if there is enough evidence to proceed. The meeting will be held at the Cache County Courthouse, 135 North 100 West. Those wanting to testify before the panel of judges should schedule an appointment with District Court Administrator Debra Moore at (801) 578-3800 by September 28. If no appointments are scheduled, there will be no meeting.Controversies between parties will not be considered. Utah’s Grand Jury Statute requires a panel of judges selected from throughout the state to hold hearings in every judicial district every three years. These hearings are sometimes called to discuss the activities of political officials.
