Historic home tour features 130 year old cabin

The second annual Cache Valley Historic Home Show Tour will be held on Saturday from 12 noon to 5 pm and the event once again is sponsored by the Cache Valley Historical Society and the Cache Valley Visitors Bureau. Committee Chair, Bernice McCowin, says this year’s tour features two homes on Logan’s historic Center Street and four additional homes in Logan and North Logan.”We’ve added a little bonus one this year,” McCowin says. She said the Larsen cabin was originally built in 1879 near Newton but has since been “painstakingly moved to its present location at the Godfrey home.”McCowin says its quite a unique home inside and out. “The interesting thing about that is the many artifacts that he has collected and put inside that home. It’s a small place, just a little two or three hundred square foot home that had a family of 10 raised in it.”McCowin says tickets for the historic home tour are just $10 and they are available at Lee’s Marketplace, Macey’s, the USU Alumni Center and the Cache Valley Visitors Bureau in the Historic Court House. Proceeds go for scholarships and for helping elementary students make field trips to the American West Heritage Center.
