Bike crash leads to heated fight

Logan police were called to the scene of a fight early Thursday morning in the neighborhood of 500 North and 100 West. Lt. Rod Peterson says it started when 21-year old David Elliot Wiley crashed on his bicycle and two men laughed at him. Wiley confronted the men and a scuffle ensued. The men convinced Wiley to go home because he reportedly was drunk. He left and returned 15-minutes later in an SUV with a friend, 47-year old Marvin Mains. Witnesses state Mains was also drunk. Mains and Wiley approached the men and asked why they laughed at the bike crash. A fight started and witnesses say Mains pulled out a knife. Police were called and Mains and Wiley fled; however a witness took down their license plate number. They were apprehended a short time later and booked into jail on aggravated assault and intoxication charges.
