Former Aggie John Chick has been named as the Canadian Football League’s Defensive Player of the Week. Chick now plays for the Saskatchewan Roughriders and in Sunday’s 33-23 victory over the Hamilton Tiger-Cats, Chick had two quarterback sacks, one special teams tackle, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery. In the five games he has played this season, the Utah State product has tallied five quarterback sacks, three forced fumbles, three defensive tackles, two fumble recoveries, one pass knockdown and one special teams tackle. The game was Chick’s first since suffering a dislocated shoulder on July 25th. Chick, who was a first-team all-Western Athletic Conference defensive end in 2005, was a four-year starter on the Aggie defense. He spent three years at defensive end after playing at linebacker as a junior.
