Fundraiser concert scheduled Saturday for Wind Caves falling victim

Last May, Utah State University student Albert Packer of Smithfield fell while hiking the Wind Caves in Logan Canyon with a group of friends. One of his friends, Nichelle Wharton, said Albert is recovering all right but he had no insurance and is faced with medical bills of more than $20,000. Wharton said a benefit concert will be held on Saturday, Aug. 15 to help pay off those bills and everyone is invited to come. She said the concert is from 7 to 10 p.m. at the Campbell Mansion, 460 S. 100 West in Hyde Park. “They’re from Campbell Scientific and they’ve got their house out in Hyde Park and they’ve got an outdoor venue that they are letting us use for free, which is so great of them,” Wharton said. “We’ve got a couple of really awesome bands and hopefully we can raise as much money as possible.” She said the bands are The News Boys and Stay for the Summer, and more. The cost is $5, but larger donations will be accepted and appreciated. For more information, call Wharton at 757-8618.
