Each week the Utah Department of Transportation sends out a status update of ongoing road construction projects in the valley. Here are the following updates on Cache and Box Elder road projects.
<strong>Logan</strong>
August 7-15: Work is proceeding on the extension of 100 East to 800South, with removal of the roadway from 300 South to 500 South, removalof curb and gutter, and sidewalk and driveway approaches along the eastside of 100 East to facilitate water line placement. Additionally,sidewalk and some driveway approaches will be removed on the west sideof 100 East to facilitate installation of new electricity and gas lines. During this phase of the project, access to Riverdale Avenue (500South) can be gained via 400 East. Motorists are encouraged to reducespeeds and be alert to their surroundings when they approach thisconstruction zone.
<strong>Wellsville</strong>
August 7-15: Crews are re-paving SR-101 from Wellsville Main Streetbeginning at Center Street to Hyrum Main Street and 800 East. This workinvolves removal of the asphalt surface with a rotomill and re-pavingwith asphalt, ADA ramp upgrades, repair of curb and gutter, applicationof a chip seal and re-application of striping. Lane restrictions withsome closures will be in affect, and flaggers will be on hand to directtraffic. Motorists should slow down, be aware of their surroundings,watch for workers and equipment on the roadway, and be prepared to stopat any time. Local residents should expect some constructed relatednoise and minor vibrations.
<strong>Lewiston</strong>
August 10: Region One Paving Crew will conduct asphalt paving on SR-61,between mileposts 1 and 4. Lanes will be restricted during this work,and traffic will be controlled by flaggers. Motorists may expect shortdelays, and should approach this work with caution and be prepared tostop at any time.
<strong>Mantua</strong>
August 7-15: Work is proceeding on the concrete median barrier beinginstalled on US-89/91, from Mantua to Sardine Summit. A continuousbarrier is being installed beginning at milepost 8.5 and movingnorthward through Dry Canyon. Work on drainage is also still underwayin select locations. Traffic is restricted to one lane in eachdirection in this zone, and motorists are encouraged to reduce speed, beaware of their surroundings, and be prepared to stop at any time.
<strong>Willard</strong>
August 9: Maintenance crews will be conducting shoulder work on I-15between mileposts 352 and 360, from Sunday evening August 9, to Mondaymorning August 10, in the freeway median. The inside lane will beclosed, both north and southbound. Motorists should be aware of workersand equipment in the roadway, slow down and be aware of theirsurroundings at all times.
